If someone would have told me years ago that I’d become a credit repair specialist, I would have never believed it. My journey started the day I was denied for a new car, and the salesman casually told me, “Your credit isn’t too bad, you should fix it.” I didn’t even know credit repair existed at the time. I asked friends and family if they knew where I could turn, but I was met with comments like “credit repair doesn’t work” or “it’s a scam.” I felt stuck and defeated, until my husband reminded me of a childhood friend who did credit repair in another state. With lots of doubts, I reached out, and instead of offering a service, she offered to teach me. At first, I laughed it off, but deep down I’ve always loved learning new skills, so I decided to give it a try.
That decision changed everything. As I learned how credit bureaus, banks, and debt collectors really work, I was shocked by how much information is kept from everyday people. I couldn’t understand why schools don’t teach this or why banks don’t explain it. Coming from a Latino background, I knew firsthand how hardworking our community is, yet how much we lack access to financial literacy. The more I learned, the more I felt called to share this knowledge. What began as my own struggle has grown into a mission today, I help clients repair and build credit while also speaking at community seminars to spread awareness and empower others with the tools we were never given.
